Rawlings model 170B, from the 2008 season, bat is un-cracked and exhibits evidence of excellent use. Several ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the left and back barrel. Ball marks include white leather scuffs. Cleat marks can be seen on right, front and back barrel. The lower handle and knob have been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and there is a light coat of pine tar on the handle. The model number (170B), order number (055) and year (08) are stamped into the knob. Sheffield’s number (3) and the Tigers weight code are written on the knob and top barrel in silver marker. A Gary Sheffield signature and the added inscription “Game Used 2008” are on the front barrel also in silver marker. The bat has been photo matched with Sheffield at the plate on April 13th, 2008.
