Hillerich & Bradsby model R161, from the 1970/1972 season, displays excellent use with a handle crack that has been repaired.  Several ball marks are visible on all sides of the barrel.  Ball marks include black ink transfers.  Cleat marks can be seen on the left and back barrel.  Also visible on the barrel is a ring from a weighted batting donut and red, blue and green bat rack streaks.  There are few red bat streaks appearing on the barrel that we will attribute to the Cincinnati Reds clubhouse.  The model number (R161) is stamped into the knob and May’s player number (23) is written on the knob in faded black marker.  A great Reds era bat of the slugging first baseman!
