SAM bat model MM0, from the 2011 season, exhibits evidence of outstanding use with a handle crack. Many ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the barrel. Ball marks include blue ink transfers. The handle has been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and there is a heavy coat Mota Stick on the upper handle. The length (34), weight (31.5), date of manufacture (9 29 11), model number (MM0) and order number (1955) are written on the top barrel in black ink. Arenado’s number (28) is on a Schutt sticker affixed to the knob. A Nolan Arenado signature is on the front barrel in fading blue marker.
This Nolan Arenado professional model bat features his Colorado Rockies number “28” stickered on the bottom of the knob. The bat was manufactured for Arenado 2 years prior to his 2013 Rookie Season. During the 2011 and 2012 seasons, Arenado played for the 2011 Modesto Nuts, The Salt River Rafters and the Tulsa Drillers. Nolan wore the number ’12’ with the Nuts and number ’20’ with the Rafters. We could not locate a clear image of Arenado’s number with the Drillers, but can confirm it was not ’28’. First part of the number visible was ‘1’. With this information at hand, it’s our opinion the subject bat saw use by Arenado as a member of the Colorado Rockies during his 2013 rookie year.
The bat has been graded a PSA GU9. A great bat of the All Star 3rd baseman and future first ballot Hall of Famer. The bat is accompanied by a PSA Letter of Authenticity.
