Adirondack model 240A from Lanier’s 1972 Yankees season is uncracked displaying outstanding use. The knob of the bat is chipped. Numerous ball marks can be seen on the scored left barrel and back barrel. Cleat marks can be seen on the left and back barrel. The top of the barrel displays a patch of pine tar. Lanier’s number ’36” appears on the know in black marker. Also on the knob in pencil is the original weight of the bat “341/2”. This is the first Adirondack bat we have seen dating specifically to 1972 (blue ring for Yankees) that has the 302 over and under “Adirondack”. Generally the over under 302 dates to 1971. We’ll call this rare variation a transitional center brand, most likely changed in early 1972.
